5 new cafes in Bangkok to check out this June 2021

After an intensive lockdown to fight a fierce third wave of Covid-19 infections, here’s a list of recently opened cafes in Bangkok for you to pay a visit to this month — safely, of course.

Cafe lovers out there, the wait has ended. It’s time to check out the new cafes in Bangkok on the scene. The past months have been unusually quiet, so if you need some fabulous photos and story updates to show off on your Instagram, these new cafes are definitely worth checking out.

Hong Sieng Kong

This Chinese-style cafe underwent a year-long transformation from a set of 200-year-old lifeless buildings to a lively riverside cafe. Tucked in an alley in the Talat Noi neighborhood, Hong Sieng Kong cafe is furnished with antique Chinese furniture and showcases collections of items from Decha and his family. Visitors are recommended to try the Coconut Blossom Coffee, Taladnoi Orange Coffee, and a plate of ice-cream served with peanuts, raspberry jam, and flourless orange cake.

Smokey Cat

Cat lover? Smokey Cat will be worth spending a purr-fect afternoon at. Immerse yourself in the fragrance of roasted coffee and enjoy the both locally grown and imported coffee beans that are roasted and later brewed into a wide array of caffeinated drinks. They are also for sale if you want to brew this coffee at home, too. Your choices include Honduras Litchilan, Colombia El Paraiso Sakura Lot, Costa Rica Las Piadra, Ethiopia Banko Gotiti, and many more.

Kappra Cafe

Bangkok finally has its first vegan cafe at Klongsan, and Kappra Cafe has more to offer with its very own co-working space and fabric studio for visitors to explore. You have various options to choose from their numerous soothing coffees and milk teas as well as refreshing cold drinks. Healthy summer bowls, puddings, and cookies are all made from plant-based ingredients. Vegan dishes like the Tofu Teriyaki Roll Wraps and Masala Supreme Cream are also highly recommended.

GTG Cafe

Upon the ease of restrictions on cannabis in Thailand, more restaurants and cafes are incorporating CBD into their food and drink menus. GTG Cafe is one of them located in Sukhumvit Soi 36. CBD beginners? Don’t you worry. CBD-infused drinks to get you started are Cannatonic Iced Tea and Cannatonic Iced Milk Tea. When you are finally tuned in, you can roll with their CBD-infused signature menu. Terpenes Hemp ice cream, CannaButter Hot Milk Coffee, and croissants with huge cannabis nibbles are some that will make your cannabis experience a memorable one.

Nine Pastry

This standalone cafe situated in Phrom Phong serves sourdough and pastries with a delicate Mediterranean touch. Pastry chef and owner Nir Netzer spent two years baking and experimenting in his kitchen before getting the right recipes. Apart from Jerusalem bagels, Tahini Cookies, Jewish Brioche, and Mahalabi (a milk pudding with cream and red fruit), there’s much more worth exploring at Nine Pastry.
