Last February, Mandarin Oriental made an exciting announcement about its plans to establish a presence in Greece. Now, the highly anticipated beachfront resort is ready to welcome guests, and reservations are officially open.

Situated in the picturesque southwest Peloponnese region, the Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino, is conveniently accessible via a three-hour car ride from Athens or a 40-minute drive from Kalamata International Airport. Nestled within the upscale Costa Navarino development, the hotel is in good company, neighboring a W hotel and Westin Resort. Marking its grand opening on August 15, the property is set to make a significant impression in the region.

Perched on the scenic Messanian hillside, the first Grecian outpost offers 99 well-appointed rooms and suites, including 48 luxurious pool villas boasting outdoor terraces with captivating sea views. Guests will be treated to an expansive 16,145-square-foot wellness facility that includes an indoor-outdoor pool, as well as a delightful selection of five restaurants and bars. For the more adventurous souls, the resort offers an array of water sports, biking, and rock climbing activities, not to mention access to four local golf courses for those who enjoy a round of golf.

Food enthusiasts will find their taste buds tantalized, with all on-site restaurants overseen by acclaimed chef Bertrand Valegeas, known for his work at Michelin-starred establishments. Culinary delights range from local Greek cuisine at Oliviera and French delicacies at Brasserie de la Bay to Levantine-inspired dishes at Tahir Restaurant and top-tier dining at the Private Kitchen. For aperitivo lovers, the Three Admirals Lounge beckons with its enticing offerings. As if that wasn’t enough, the Costa Navarino development is also home to a spa, 20 other restaurants, and a thalassotherapy center, ensuring a complete and indulgent experience.

James Riley, group chief executive of Mandarin Oriental, expressed his excitement, stating, “We are delighted to be opening our first property in Greece in Costa Navarino and look forward to sharing this striking combination of unspoiled landscape, olive groves, pristine beaches, and authentic Greek culture in the region with our guests.” He also expressed gratitude to Temes, the developer group responsible for the creation of Costa Navarino as a thriving tourism destination.

Founded in 1997, Grecian developer Temes has been instrumental in elevating Costa Navarino’s status as a luxury destination. With five upscale resorts under its belt, Temes has successfully established the region as an appealing international destination for both tourists and residents.

Following the eagerly awaited debut of the Greek hotel, Mandarin Oriental has another exciting venture on the horizon—a private island resort in the Maldives, scheduled to open its doors in 2025. For travelers fortunate enough to experience both waterfront paradises, the challenge will be deciding how to divide their time between these two luxurious havens.
