Pick of the bunch: The best online luxury florists

Eddie Murphy once said “flowers are the fastest way to a woman’s heart” and we can hardly disagree. Whatever the occasion, sending a beautiful bouquet is a surefire way to ensure someone feels loved. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, we’ve rounded up our favourite luxury florists offering online orders, home delivery and promising gorgeous arrangments that won’t let you down.

The single-variety choice: FlowerBx

In 2015, Whitney Bromberg Hawkings — former senior vice president of communications at Tom Ford — left her two decade career in fashion behind to launch FlowerBx. Built on a mission to provide luxury, single-variety flowers at an accessible price point, FlowerBx became the world’s largest international luxury floral brand in 2021, with deliveries spanning 24 countries. Despite its wide remit, FlowerBx doesn’t compromise on quality. Its single-variety bouquets are plucked at their freshest by responsible growers and make a bold statement thanks to their understated design and stand-out colours.

Our favourite is the Coral Crush Fringed Tulip bouquet with its candy-pink hue and sugar-dipped tips. Simply select your stem count, ranging from 25 to 50 – the latter promises a seriously extravagant celebration.

The sustainable choice: Blooming Haus

This Chelsea-based florist’s online store has only been open since 2020 but it’s giving many of the established floristry stalwarts a run for their money. Founded by Michal Kowalski and Michael Dariane, sustainability is integral to the business. The shop is powered by green energy; all waste is composted; London orders are delivered by bike and the business began a carbon-offset programme last year.

Some of the luxury offerings are truly mind-blowing. If you’re looking to make a big blooming statement, look no further than the 500 Rose Bouquet where each rose is hand tied and can be customised. We’re also big fans of the Amethyst Bouquet, composed of white clematis and anemones, which is perfect for lilac lovers.

The in-season choice: Bloom

Also keeping sustainability at the fore, Bloom’s selection of seasonal flowers avoids waste while bringing bright, youthful stems into your home. For its spring collection, expect an abundance of hyacinths, freesias and tulips to name just a few. We’re loving the Ultra Marine Blue Hyacinths, which are known for their strong fragrance, brightening up your home and making it smell sweet too.

The traditional choice: Moyses Stevens

Since 1876 Moyses Stevens has been creating some of the finest bouquets in the capital and is rumoured to be the Royal Family’s choice of florist for special occasions. And if it’s good enough for royalty, it’s good enough for us. The company’s award-winning bouquets come in every colour imaginable so you’re really spoilt for choice. Moyses Stevens also has shops in Mayfair, St Pancras, Selfridges, Sloane Square and Battersea, with the latter being home to the brand’s Flower School which hosts a number of florist workshops. If your loved one is a fan of soft whites and blush pinks, the decadent Marilyn Munroe bouquet is for them.

The local choice: Floom

Floom is a unique floristry directory, connecting you with thousands of independent florists across the UK and, in turn, helping local businesses. All the bouquets on the website are supplied by different, smaller brands with the online locator allowing you to find out exactly where your bouquet is coming from. Floom provides plenty of choice, so it’s hard to pick just one, but we’re big fans of the Double Cream bouquet by Gardenia of London. You can’t go wrong with a classic combination of white and cream.

We love the delicate Dear Darling with its lavender lace spray rose, lilac clematis, jupiter dianthus, burgundy ranunculus and seasonal foliage.
