Shoulder duster earrings were big news across the board when it came to the new-season catwalk shows, and are arguably set to be the single biggest jewellery trend of the new year. A term coined during the Art Deco era to describe three-inch-long pendant earrings which were dainty and all-but grazed the shoulder, this wasn’t the only reason for their name, as they originally featured a unique shape and motif that resembled a feather duster.

The hoop earring is one of those styles that never really falls out of favour, and while they might vary in size and metal of choice, they are invariably a feature on every new season catwalk. Classic and timeless, pearl jewellery has always been effortlessly chic and endlessly sophisticated – and in 2023, our love affair with this precious gem is set to continue. Typically, though, they’ve had a new-season makeover, and this time around, it’s a case of ‘the bigger, the better’ – with the jumbo pearl making a return to our jewellery boxes and characterising some of the most prominent new-season must-haves.
