Father’s Day will take place on 18 June 2023 – which means you have a little under two weeks to secure a restaurant reservation impressive enough to satisfy your old man. If you’re based in London – and have an out-of-town father willing to brave the big city on his special day – you’re in luck: the capital is full of chefs ready to put on a lavish spread, bars waiting to pour his favorite tipple and hotels pulling out all the stops to create a memorable occasion. Whether he’s more beer and burgers or steak and champagne, we’ve got a few suggestions for the best restaurants for Father’s Day in London.

The Lanesborough Grill, Belgravia

The newest opening at Hyde Park Corner’s most storied five-star hotel, the Lanesborough Grill, is pulling out all the stops to celebrate Father’s Day in style. Executive head chef Shay Cooper has riffed on the restaurant’s signature seasonal British fare to create a set Sunday lunch menu guaranteed to impress. Think coronation crab salad, grilled octopus with black olive, Dover sole in brown butter, and whisky and pecan brownie. Of course, there’s also lashings of champagne to accompany proceedings.

Harvey Nichols, Knightsbridge

Knightsbridge department store Harvey Nichols may be the obvious choice for a memorable Father’s Day gift but its selection of restaurants also do fine dining worthy of the luxury goods on offer below. For Father’s Day 2023, it’s cooked up a host of decadent offerings, including a sumptuous roast at the Fifth Floor Café and Terrace, complimentary prosecco or bear with every main meal at Burger & Lobster, and a special sharing plate at Zelman Meats featuring ribeye, picanha, fillet and striploin steaks. There’s also a free bottle of presecco for every table at Italian eatery Lucarelli and a second beer on the house with every main at fine Indian restaurant Madhu’s Brasserie.


The Colony Grill Room, Mayfair

With its burgundy leather banquettes and panelled wooden interior, there are few restaurants more fitting for Father’s Day than the Colony Grill Room at the Beaumont Hotel in Mayfair. Its one-off Father’s Day menu is also full of classic fare that’s sure to appeal, with five choices for each of its three courses so even the pickiest eaters are well catered for. Our highlights? The NY shrimp cocktail, steak tartare, smoked gnocchi with ricotta, and bananas Foster.

This Father’s Day, head chef Marc Hardimann has concocted an indulgent Sunday lunch inspired by seasonal British ingredients which will be available for one day only. Choose from dishes including choice cuts of native Black Angus beef with seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire puddings, and red wine sauce, cured Faroe Island salmon with horseradish, and Valrhona chocolate stout cake.

The Cinnamon Club, Westminster

Vivek Singh’s perennial favourite in the heart of Westminster is the perfect Father’s Day lunch pitstop whether you’re after cocktails and Indian bar snacks or a full multi-course menu. If it’s the latter, Singh has devised a special array of dishes just for the occasion, with highlights including kadhai spiced asparagus, Bengali-style vegetable cake, Old Delhi-style butter chicken, and peanut chikki and chocolate marquis. There’s even a seasonal cocktail on arrival for the whole table too.

Mayfair fine dining Chinese restaurant Park Chinois is offering something a little different to your standard Sunday roast for Father’s Day 2023. Kick proceedings off with a truly indulgent special dessert: Godfather. Featuring a dark chocolate cigar filled with chocolate mousse and caramel and served with vanilla ice cream on dry ice, it’s quite the spectacle. It’s also been designed to pair with a unique whisky flight perfect for raising a toast with your dad. Sip from drams of Macallan Oak, 18yo and 25yo as well as Yamazaki 2022 Cask series and Suntory 100 Year Anniversary. Chin chin!

Jamavar, Mayfair


Indian fine dining restaurant Jamavar will be putting a personal touch on Father’s Day with a tasting menu dedicated to founder Samyukta Nair’s father and grandfather. Created in collaboration with executive chef Surender Mohan, dishes include scallop truffle khichdi (a particular favourite of Nair’s father Dinesh), Malabar sea bass and Kuttanad lobster curry. You’ll also be able to take home a copy of Capture the Dream, the biography of Nair family patriarch and top Indian hotelier Krishnan Nair, to commemorate the experience.

The Athenaeum, Piccadilly

Afternoon tea may be your go-to for Mothering Sunday but why should dads miss out on the decadence and delicacies? This Father’s Day, Mayfair’s The Athenaeum hotel has designed a special savoury afternoon tea paired with Chalkdown cider or English sparkling wine perfect for fathers not content with finger sandwiches and scones. Served in the hotel’s restaurant or elegant salon, a selection of sandwiches, tartlets, sausage rolls and cheese scones make for an unusual take on the classic British afternoon tea.
