As the door closes on 2022, the new year brings with it new hotels, restaurants, and experiences for travellers to add to their 2023 wish lists. Beautifully located in the heart of Burgundy, one of the world’s most prestigious wine regions, COMO Le Montrachet will bring the group’s contemporary flair to the sought-after Côte-d’Or region, providing unparalleled access to some of the most famous Grand Cru vineyards. Build on the former historic Hotel Le Montrachet in Puligny-Montrachet, the new COMO property will be revamped and re-imagined by esteemed designer Paola Navone. The five-star property will be arranged across four heritage buildings, each of which will house sophisticated, sanctuary-like suites and rooms. The phased opening of the hotel will also see a COMO Shambhala Retreat, the first of its kind in France, and exceptional dining options and exquisite wine experiences in one of the most beautiful settings.

The decision to expand was made further to the resort experiencing a 30 per cent increase in bookings year on year post-pandemic. Featuring a harmonious minimal design and fully equipped with private balconies, terraces and some with private plunge pools, the suites offer a true sense of seclusion. Suited to couples and families alike, travellers of all ages are invited to explore the new facilities and get an authentic taste of the destination.

Head to the Alps alongside renowned chefs for a truly unforgettable skiing experience with a side of culinary flair. Kicking off the series is two-time Michelin starred chef Alex Dilling, whose innovative and experimental cooking techniques, combined with EnVogue Travel’s ability to push boundaries, will guarantee each meal is a truly unique and elegant experience. Ski-in, ski-out to a private lunch, nestled within the mountains and served on a table hand-crafted from snow, dressed in plush blankets and fur, and once refuelled venture off-piste for the afternoon before returning to a private alpine chalet.

Serving as a gateway to the Sahara, Cenizaro Hotels and Resorts’ first desert resort, The Residence Douz, is set to open in 2023. The brand’s second opening in Tunisia, set in 40 acres of rolling dunes and swaying palms, is an all-suite oasis comprising 50 desert-inspired villas inspired by local design and aesthetics. Villas feature private terraces and swimming pools shaded by canvas canopies, traditional hand-woven carpets and intricate bricks of Tozeur detailing. Three unique dining destinations span Mediterranean, Tunisian and international cuisine, while the expansive spa features a traditional hammam, eight treatment rooms and Turkish baths. For young travellers, the Kids’ Club is complete with an observatory tower for spotting wildlife such as fennecs and gazelles.

New for 2023, Faiy is the brand-new restaurant at Velaa Private Island, one of the world’s most exclusive islands in the Maldives, serving elevated wellness-focused cuisine within the island’s lush tropical gardens. Dishes are healthy, light and colourful, offering clean, unprocessed and whole foods that are as close to their natural states as possible, such as marinated avocado with Maldivian yellow fin tuna and beetroot tartar and fresh water prawns with green mango, Thai basil and pink grapefruit. Meaning ‘leaf’ in local Dhivehi, Faiy will be joining the existing collection of bars and restaurants which includes Aragu, a fusion of European and Asia flavours; teppanyaki restaurant Tavaru, home to the Maldives’ most extensive wine collection; and a new beach bar serving innovative cocktails and light bites on the shoreline. Menus compliment the ancient-meets-modern approach to wellbeing at Velaa Spa, combining traditional therapies and techniques with cutting-edge technology.

As Bhutan finally reopens its doors, travellers can discover its rich culture like never before with COMO Hotels and Resorts six-night Historical Odysseys itinerary which deeply immerses guests into the country’s Buddhist culture. Mondrian, part of Ennismore, one of the hottest hospitality groups in the world with a global collective of 14 brands, will open in Singapore in March 2023. The brand’s southeast Asian debut, Mondrian Singapore Duxton, will inject its signature blend of art, glamour and culinary flair into the vibrant neighbourhood of Duxton Hill. Rising above the historic and colourful Chinatown shophouses with sweeping views of the glittering city skyline, the hotel is a stone’s throw from the Central Business District and will house 302 guestrooms and shophouse suites, a cinematic rooftop pool and electric restaurants and bars.
